Ang
Thong National Marine Park |
Ang Thong Marine National
Park consists of 42 islands, its name means "Golden Urn" in Thai.
The
scenery topside is very similar to the Andaman
side with many limestone outcrops and formations.
The two most popular
dive spots are at Koh Wao and Hin Yippon where you can enter shallow
caves and swim throughs. Soft and black corals are plentiful and you
may spot banded sea snakes and turtles here.
It is also one of the few
places where, if you're lucky, you may see whale sharks.
This site is
also very good for snorkelling

Shark Island |
Shark island is one of our favorite Koh Tao sites because of the huge diversity of marine life, granite pinnacles and swim throughs. There is a resident turtle who on occassion passes by and also the titan trigger fish are good to keep an eye out for. This site is sometimes exposed to stronger currents so be sure to listen to a full briefing. Groupers and barracudas can often be seen here
and you may be lucky enough to spot a leopard shark. This site is excellent for drift and multi-level specialty dives.
